Legal Aid for Washington Fund (LAW Fund) and its Campaign for Equal Justice raise charitable contributions to ensure justice is a reality -- not just for those who can afford it -- but for everyone in Washington state.
“My wife and I could have lost our condo that we worked so hard for.”
Access to the justice system should be a reality for everyone - not just for those who can afford a lawyer. Legal Aid for Washington Fund’s (LAW Fund) Campaign for Equal Justice raises charitable support for more than 20 civil legal aid programs providing free legal assistance to those in need who are facing urgent civil (non-criminal) legal problems across Washington state.
In our communities, struggling families face an array of problems with devastating legal consequences. Legal aid can mean the difference between shelter and homelessness, food on the table and hunger, a steady job and unemployment.
Support for the Campaign for Equal Justice allows legal aid programs to increase their capacity to provide legal help to our state’s most vulnerable neighbors, leading to safer, healthier and more vibrant communities.
This March marked the 10th anniversary of the landmark US Supreme Court decision prevering IOLTA for legal aid programs. On June 5, 2013 the Endowment for Equal Justice and the Legal Foundation of Washington hosted an event to celebrate. See photos from the event here.
The 2013 Campaign for Equal Justice has officially started! As of June 11, 2013, we have raised $322,775. Thank you to everyone who has given to the Campaign so far!
